2017/2018 Summer Season
The Youth Training Squads Program provides coaching and racing sessions for sailors in Optimists (Green Fleet and Open) as well as in Lasers (4.7 and Radial). The Green Fleet is suitable for sailors who have completed the Tackers 'Learn to Sail' Program, where as the Open Optimist Squad is best suited to sailors who are confident on the water in the own boat. The Laser Squad is for those sailors who have moved on from the Optimist and are looking for the next step along their sailing pathway.
Coaching sessions are conducted on Tuesday Afternoons, Thursday afternoon's, and Sunday's during the afternoon. Racing is also conducted once a month on Sunday's.

RSYS Youth Sailing Comunication
RSYS Youth sailing predominantly use the RSYS Youth Sailing Squads Team APP - this is used for coaching and regatta dates, news articles, special events and any information need to sail at RSYS.

There are two types of registration, Coaching and Racing or just Racing. For those sailors that want to be part of the coaching program they need to register for the for the coaching and training program, include in this is the registration for racing.
For those wanting to just race please register in the racing only option. This will allow you to race only.

To be eligible to join the RSYS Youth Training Squads program, sailors must be a member of the Squadron and have a parent who is also a member of the Squadron. For more information on membership please contact the Sailing Office on 9017 0153 or feel free to discuss membership with any of the Youth Sailing Committee members.
The parents of all Youth Sailors in the program are required to undertake volunteer duties. These duties are approximately 2 rostered duties per month assisting on land or on the water depending on the skills possessed by the parents. The program offers opportunities for parents to undertake training to increase their skills to be a Safety boat driver or Race Officer.
