Any sailor participating in a RSYS race series (e.g. Tuesday twilight, Saturday racing) that is not a current financial member of an Australian Sailing affiliated sailing club must apply for a RSYS SailPass.

Under the Australian Sailing prescription for rule 46 of the Racing Rules of Sailing.

“All persons on board a boat while racing shall be members of a Club affiliated to Australian Sailing and have an Australian Sailing number, or hold a valid Sail Pass, or if an international competitor, be a member of a club affiliated to a World Sailing recognised Member National Authority.”

Failure to meet this requirement may result in your yacht’s disqualification from the race/s you have participated in.

As the Organising Authority of all Club racing, RSYS has a duty of care to both our Members and their guests. Collecting race participants basic information, including emergency contact details, allows our staff to fulfil this duty.

Please note that under the Racing Rules of Sailing Rule 3, ‘the responsibility for the boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue to race is hers alone.’ By participating in any RSYS event, each participant agrees and acknowledges that sailing is a potentially dangerous activity with inherent risks.

Once you have registered for an RSYS SailPass, add your Australian Sailing number to your SailSys crew account. This will ensure that your SailPass is connected to each race you will participate in and that you meet the full requirements of RRS Rule 46.

RSYS SailPass is valid for 12 months from 30 July 2022.

RSYS SailPass holders are covered by the Australian Sailing personal injury insurance policy, whilst sailing within the selected period.

No. The RSYS SailPass only provides sailors with temporary personal injury insurance through the Australian Sailing scheme.

Sailors can only access the Club’s facilities, such as the Careening Cove Anchorage, as an accompanied guest of a Member.

No, SailPasses are club specific and only provide you with temporary personal injury insurance for the time period or race series selected.

If you do not hold a valid RSYS SailPass and participate in any of our Club racing you risk your yacht being disqualified from every race you participated in.
