Friendly Rivalry at the Elliott 7 Series

First Place L to R: Jameson Prescott, Max Henderson, Annabelle Connery, Lauren Tandy, Zac West

SKP Member, Abby Gilbert, writes "On Saturday we had the opportunity to sail in the third Elliott 7s Race series of the season. These 'friendly style' club race days are an excellent opportunity to put everything we have learnt at SKP training to practice and work on our racing between external regattas.

The fluky westerly breeze and shifty conditions meant for some challenging racing, however none the less some great competition. Zac West took out the win, followed by Jed Cruickshank, Xavier McLachlan, Issy Payne and Sophie Hunt.

Second Place L to R: Aiden Young, Hugh Allen, Lauren Tandy

Big shout out to Issy who was on stick for the first time Match Racing outside of training and did an incredible job with some very close races.

A big thank you to our umpires Erica Kirby, Simon Barrington and Robyn Tames, who volunteered their Saturday. These race days would not be possible without you and we are so appreciative.

SKP Sailor Alex Yu joined the umpire team for the day and afterwards spoke about how eye-opening the experience was and how much it helped developed his understanding of Match Racing.

Third Place L to R: Katina Casimaty, Thomas Rees, Xavier McLachlan, James Hayhoe

Best of luck to Zac and his team of Annabelle, Jameson, Max and Lauren who will be competing in the SCL Youth final in Kiel, Germany at the start of September.

Their commitment to training over the past few months could be seen in the quality of their racing over the weekend and we will look forward to watching them excel from back home!
