A Double Win for Team Hollywood

Squadron Member Ray Roberts writes, 'I am still recovering from my two weeks of sailing at Airlie Beach and Hamilton Island Race Weeks. They were both very tough regattas due to the strength of the wind and when you get wind against tide, you get very lumpy seas.

Additionally, in the northern Queensland waters, sailing around island courses where the coral grows and there are very rocky outcrops, the navigation can be quite challenging and in both regattas, several boats had encounters with rocks!

It is always good to start your Hamilton Island series at Airlie Beach so that you get your team performing together. We also had another top sailor join the crew, Squadron member David Chapman as tactician for 50% of the regatta.

Additionally, we had three very good sailors from Poland backed up by three very good sailors from NZ and it was good to see this cross-section of people who blended in with my Aussie crew and I thought they all put in an outstanding performance.

The results and placings are below for Airlie Beach Division 1 IRC and Hamilton Island where we participated with boats of a similar size and rating in Division 4 IRC.

A big thanks goes to my daughter Sam McAndrew, who helped organise getting the boat and team to both regattas, which is not always an easy ask!'
