RSYS Dinghy Training Programs
The RSYS Sailing Academy is passionate about fostering the love of sailing and promoting the benefits of the sport such as time outdoors away from screens, improved balance and flexibility, ability to work as a team and building friendships through shared interests. Sailing also develops resilience, independence, problem solving and confidence.
The RSYS Sailing Academy offers three dinghy training squads for our youth sailors.
- Optimist Program (Green, Intermediate, Open Fleet) = Open to sailors aged 8-15 years old beginning their racing journey.
- Pacer Program = Open to youth sailors 13-18 years old who have some prior sailing experience, and are looking to further develop their skills in a two-handed dinghy.
- Laser Program (Development, Advanced Fleets) = Open to youth sailors who have aged out of Optimist or had experience in other Dinghy classes and are aiming to gain ILCA specific skills in this single-handed class.

Volunteers
Volunteers are the backbone of our Club, and we rely on their assistance when organising training sessions, race days and other events both on and off the water. We are extremely grateful for their support and are always looking for more helpers.
To support our parents in gaining onwater skills the RSYS Sailing Academy runs the Australian Sailing 'Start Powerboating', 'Powerboat Handling' and 'Safety Boat Operator' courses throughout the year.
