All set for Hardy Cup 2020

The Squadron will host 11 teams of elite young sailors from Europe, USA, New Zealand and New Caledonia as well as Australian clubs, to contest the 2020 Hardy Cup. The Squadron's annual Grade 3 match racing regatta for 18-25 year olds will be held from 3 - 6 February in the waters just off our Club.

We look forward to welcoming teams from New York Yacht Club, Royal Gothenburg Yacht Club, Royal Danish Yacht Club, Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club, Noumea Yacht Club, and Australian sailors from Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club, CYCA and RPAYC. Eight of the 13 teams competing are placed in the top 100 of the World Sailing match racing rankings, so the competition is sure to be fierce.

The Squadron first held this regatta in 2001. America’s Cup and Olympic sailor Sir James Hardy OBE put his name to the prestigious trophy at the outset and he’s still Patron, saying 'It is a tremendous pleasure to watch future champions developing their skills on Sydney Harbour.'

RSYS is fielding two teams this year, coached by Club Member Nev Wittey:

RSYSOpen (above)
Jed Cruickshank – Helm, Jack Littlechild – Main, Jameson Prescott – Pit, Charlotte Alexander – Trimmer, Aiden Mansley - Bow

RSYS - Women’s
Maddie O’Shea – Helm, Marlena Berzins – Main, Ella Delaney – Pit, Brooke Wilson – Trimmer, Tiana Wittey – Bow.
