For the last two years the Intermediates Committee has been focused on delivering value to the Intermediate Members of the RSYS. Now that these initiatives are online we thought it would be worthwhile to summarise them to ensure our cohort understands the facilities available to Intermediate Members.
Elliott 7s on Friday Twilights
RSYS has granted Intermediate Members and their Guests free usage of the Elliot 7’s for the twilights which start on Friday 6th October. The boats are fun, quick, easy to set up and they can comfortably fit four or five people. Make use of this opportunity now! The reservation process is simple. Just book via the RSYS website or if you want more information, please contact the Sailing Office. Be sure to book in with a few days’ notice to reserve your spot.
This course is specifically designed for those who know how to sail but would like more guidance on the Club’s Elliott 7s. Incorporated into the beginning of the Spring season, this course will provide participants with a solid grounding in how to rig and sail the Elliotts during the Friday night twilights. Certified keelboat instructors will help participants to navigate the pond, practise racing and enjoy the full Club experience with the benefit of being equipped with the skills and confidence to continue sailing in one of the Club's most celebrated events.
Cost: $120 per boat, per week (up to 3 crew) Availability: Friday Twilights Contact:email@example.com
Stand Up Paddleboards (SUPs)
The four RSYS SUPs are ready for action. Take them out for a quick 30min paddle around the bay, or a two hour coffee dash to Cremorne. High spec, stable and fun, the SUPs are a great way to relax on your own, show off the harbour to your friends, or get in a quick sweat session!
The Intermediates Christmas Drinks will be held on Friday 8th December at the Rooftop Bar. Members are encouraged to bring Guests, enjoy the view, show off the RSYS to your friends and relax with a cocktail or two in the lead up to the Christmas rush.
We can’t wait for this event so we thought we would send you an early reminder that the ever-popular annual Intermediates Ball will be held in March 2018. Details to follow...
We hope to see you at the RSYS soon!

Intermediate members make up an important demographic at the RSYS and contribute greatly to the Club’s culture and atmosphere. Our principal aim is to encourage Intermediate members to use and enjoy the wonderful facilities the Club has to offer. We host a variety of sailing and social events throughout the year to ensure that Intermediates are connected to the Club and other members. Many Intermediates have completed the RSYS Youth Sailing Program, making this next stage in membership a great opportunity to enhance sailing skills and rekindle memories.
The social calendar aims to bring members and their guests together to enjoy the Club year-round. These events are designed to encourage old and new members to be active throughout their early twenties up until late thirties. We organize events such as the Friday Twilight ‘Sunset Bar’, Monthly Wine Tastings, Christmas Drinks and the much anticipated Annual RSYS Ball, our flagship event on the calendar. The Ball always brings members together for a memorable and entertaining evening.
Our Club espouses the spirit and camaraderie of sailing, and Intermediates are strongly encouraged to continue the sport casually and/or in racing. Intermediates are active in a variety of on-water events, domestically and abroad, and are well represented in Match Racing events such as the Hardy Cup. There are many opportunities for Intermediates to get down to the Club and onto the harbour including Saturday and Sunday Racing, Friday Twilights, Intermediates Elliott Raceday and on the RSYS Annual Cruise.
The Committee is continually looking to improve the value Intermediates derive from membership and we always welcome contributions and thoughts from all of our members.
