Youth America's Cup

The Andoo Team Australia Youth Squad at the America's Cup

The Andoo Team Australia youth squad, led by Skipper Cole Tapper, with co-helm Jack Ferguson and trimmers Max Paul and Tom Needham did themselves proud today to finish their UniCredit Youth America's Cup with incredible speed and a never give up attitude including a win in the last race. The first to finish of the teams that didn’t have their own AC40 is a brilliant achievement.

'We’re learning. And, you know, to have another week or anything would make a world of difference, but I think we just made the most of every little bit of time we got on the water. And the team’s performance out there today compared to the first day of this regatta, you know, they’re worlds apart, so we’ve got to be happy with that,” concluded skipper Cole Tapper.

“I’m super proud of all the team, because it’s been a huge journey to get here and it’s unbelievable how much some people have given for this program,' said trimmer Max Paul.

'And to all our sponsors, to all our supporters, to all our friends and family that have been here cheering us on every day, it’s been a bit overwhelming and a bit unbelievable that we’ve been able to put this program together. To all the boys and Annie and our team, everyone’s done a phenomenal job and I couldn’t be prouder of every individual in this program.'

The top two teams from the semi-final will race off in a winner takes all Match Race on 26 September. The two teams are Group A nations attached to the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup teams, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Italy and NYYC American Magic USA.

Next up for us is the Puig Women’s America’s Cup.
