Youth Sailing Interclub Challenge

It was a stunning Winter’s day over Sydney last Sunday as teams from RSYS, CYCA, NCYC and RPAYC contested the annual Interclub Challenge.

The WSW breeze ranging from 7-20 knots tested teams and race officers. Boat of the day was CYCA with Kye, Will, Ollie, Ruby, Marcus closely followed by RSYS Isobel, Lauren, Massimo, Tom and Mikka. Third on the day with a win in the last race was NCYC (Newcastle), Arthur, Harry, Tom, Max and Ellie.

Created in 2001, the Interclub Challenge is a fleet racing series contested by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club, Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club and Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron with each Club hosting a stage of the series. Each stage consists of up to two teams from each Club, participating in a maximum of six races at each venue.

We're looking forward to the next rounds and seeing more of our youth squad participants gaining real regatta race experience at each venue. Thank you to the CYCA for helping out with four additional boats for the racing.

Next Sunday, Round 3 will be hosted at Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club.
