Catching a Wind Shift to a Beautiful Noise Victory



Stuart Paterson, skipper of Beautiful Noise writes, ‘It was forecast to be 10+ knots, but our race started with much lighter winds. We were lucky to get away from a very congested starting line with an early start.

Looking back as we made our way to the first mark (N3) was nerve-wracking. A large RSYS fleet was hot on our tail. The atmosphere was full of energy as yachts from various clubs filled the scene, creating a vibrant and exciting race.

We took a slightly different course to the BB mark than other boats in our division and surprisingly, stayed in the lead.

Several boats, including Outfoxed, looked poised to overtake us, but after passing Shark Island, we caught a shift in the wind while they didn't. That gust was enough to carry us to the finish, securing our first win of the season!
