21 – 28 April
A cruise like no other!
Cruising yachts, motor boats and racing enthusiasts are cordially invited to participate in the 49th Annual Cruise to Broken Bay, Cowan Creek, Coal and Candle Creek and Pittwater.
The Cruise is designed to bring families and friends together for a week, to enjoy the most pristine cruising grounds of any location on Australia’s east coast. What could be better than being anchored in one of the dozens of secluded bays in company with other yachts, sharing this wonderful location?
It is held in the second week of the school holidays so borrow, charter or bring your own boat and have a great week on board. Many lifelong friendships have commenced on Squadron Cruises.
The social program provides the opportunity to assemble in a different location almost every day. There is something for everyone; a BBQ, picnic, pizza dinner and happy hour drinks ashore, a progressive dinner on board, cooking competitions and lunches at several of the excellent restaurants.
For racing enthusiasts, there is also a program of up to six races comprising four inshore races and two passage races Sydney to Pittwater and return.
The Squadron provides support in the form of MV Mischief which doubles as the race committee boat and base for the management of all activities.
Galley Gourmet Challenge
The Entrée, Main and Dessert categories will be judged during the first Lay Day on Monday 23 April at Smiths Creek. Entrants will be allocated a ‘tasting time’, starting from 6pm and the judges will visit each entrant’s boat for a sample of each course.
The Canapé/Finger Food category will be judged on the beach under the waterfall at Refuge Bay on Wednesday 25 April, following Inshore Race 3 at 3:30pm. Everyone is invited to taste the entries (after the judges, of course) then inflict their opinions on the judges.
The Junior Chef competition is open to those 16 years or younger for the same categories and judging criteria. A Junior Chef may enter one or all of the meal categories but only the category with the highest score will be used in the competition.
The rules are simple: meals must be made on board (no pre-preparation) and the winning recipes must be provided to the committee for publication on the RSYS website. Judging will based on presentation, taste, creativity and degree of difficulty in creating the masterpiece (determined by available facilities.)
Prizes will be awarded to the winner and runner-up in each category. Winners of the Open class will receive a dining voucher for the CCA and the Junior Chef will receive an iTunes voucher. Also, the winning Main meal will be offered in the CCA as a special on some Tuesday and Friday nights during November 2018.
So dig out your favourite recipes and include your Galley Gourmet Challenge entry with your Cruise entry.
