Hardy Cup Lunch 2020
Sir James, America's Cup and Olympic sailor, has been the patron of the match racing event since 2001. The Hardy Cup itself dates back to 1983 when it competed in a variety of dinghy classes. The event was created to develop the tactical, and later match racing, skills of the Squadron’s youth sailors. Over the years the Hardy Cup has gone from strength to strength and this year’s competition is set to be the hardest yet with thirteen teams including seven international and eight ranked in the top 100 World Sailing Match Racing rankings.
Dave Chapman Hardy Cup winner in 2013, and 2019 World Sailing League Champion will join Sir Hardy to discuss the future of this event and the role Sir James has played in developing youth matching at the Squadron.
The cost for lunch, a two-course meal with wines, is $115 and includes an optional $50 tax-deductible contribution to the Squadron Foundation Youth Sailing Project. This project helps provide development through coaching for our youth sailors, supports sending our Youth teams to inter-club, interstate and overseas competitions as well as assists with the purchase and ongoing maintenance of club-owned vessels.
